Your response was spot on. The U.S. has tax deductions, but they really don’t make that big of an impact until you’re giving hoards away (which is why the wealthy get a bigger break) You basically can choose between a standard deduction or charitable. If you give a few bucks here and there to a charity or even around 3K, you want the standard. But you’re right. The overwhelming majority of donors for our organization are those who give smaller amounts because they went through hard times or something similar and are grateful we exist.
Now, if you could just get me in front of Taylor Swift and Ellen DeGeneres then maybe we can expand our reach ;)
