Leslie, the fatherlessness epidemic is something that’s very haunting and harrowing in our culture indeed. I think that’s been the most stressful thing as a new dad too. I want to raise my kids well, but there’s also other guys I mentor and often the need for father/mentor figures in many men’s lives is overwhelming. So in a lot of ways, the fatherhood problem is the stem, but then our own selfishness is the root because we think someone else should handle fixing the problem (the government, the church, a non-profit, etc). The failure then is in the good men not stepping up to the plate to help.
