Trip, I agree. Discipleship has to be the focal point of every church and Christian. However, the point of the article is more a prophetic lament in terms with the OT prophets like Ezekiel, Daniel, and Jeremiah who called out the BS of bowing down to Babylon. The scriptures have no qualms with calling out an entire nation in these books because of their idolatry and how they were led astray to worship other gods. Much of the proclaiming Christians of America have turned, like the Israelites, to doing the same. Last, I’d remind you of the Apostle Paul who also called out Hymenaeus and Alexander in 1 Timothy 1:20 because of their blasphemy and “turned them over to Satan.” While the earmarks are indeed humility and grace, this doesn’t mean we don’t point out where our brothers and sister have turned to worshipping Caesar in a gentle but firm manner.
