Oh man, isn’t that the million dollar question, Taylor. Funny though, one of my editors asked the same question on this piece. So I’ll tell you the same as I told them. First, let me say I have my theories, but that doesn’t mean they’re correct, but here they are: Term limits for congressman and senators as well as Supreme Court. Salary caps. Mandatory service in either the military or the Peace Corps in order to run for office (Robert Heinlein Starship Troopers style, ya know? Less wars that way and less spending). Like non-profits, they should be required to release financial earnings as opposed to it being a show of goodwill. Then—personally—I think they should be required to pass tests on American history and the Constitution as well as have studied major philosophical concepts and authors. But hey, that’s me :)
