John, loved reading this and agree wholeheartedly. I quit my corporate job several years ago and took a 60% pay cut (for the first few years) when I transitioned to non-profit life because I wanted to help people. I haven’t looked back even when times got tough. What most people forget is that, if you can live content in plenty, then you can live content when in need too. There’s a quote by Benjamin Franklin I often share that reminds me of this piece:
“Money never made a man happy yet, nor will it. There is nothing in its nature to produce happiness. The more a man has, the more he wants. Instead of its filling a vacuum, it makes one.”
Thanks for a great read!
