I’m curious as to where you get the idea that Sharia Law would be implemented by Muslims (and our government) across America if Christians chose to live the life of Christ towards others and not make political idolatry and nationalism their main goal? Is there even any empirical evidence that you could point too? I seriously doubt that especially as someone who served alongside Muslims in Iraq and Afghanistan and have several Muslim friends.
If you do indeed call yourself a Christian, I think you forget the parable of the Good Samaritan. Many people forget that the Samaritans were hated by the Jews in antiquity. They viewed them with contempt, racial hate, and believed they took and distorted what the Jews found holy. Yet in the story, Jesus uses a Samaritan to stop and care for an injured man on the road which would have been scandalous to those listening to his story. Don’t forget that the lawyer, “wanting to justify himself” asked who was his neighbor… to which Jesus says “The Samaritan.” Therefore, Christs ask of you is to love those who would take all you find holy and spit on it. To love them as yourself. To care for them and show grace and compassion. If you believe that Muslims are unworthy of that because they will somehow infect a “Christian” nation with their Sharia Law, you don’t understand the Gospel. The Gospel should humble you and remind that as good as you try to be, you’re not, but that you’re loved anyway. And if you can claim that grace for yourself but not give it freely to others, then you do not get the heart of Jesus.
