I appreciate this very much, Tony. I think that’s the hardest thing a lot of younger people are realizing. I work with a group of 20-somethings and a large portion of them, when I ask why they joined the group, respond “I really want friends.” When I press on that, many of them have explained that even though they love their job, it didn’t fulfill them. Technology wasn’t doing it. And dating around certainly wasn’t either. Deep down they knew they were wired for connection. But connection requires risk. So even when they joined, we had to break through a lot of barriers to create vulnerability and authenticity. It’s work. But all of them have said it was worth it.
